TECHNOLOGY

Vicon Motion Capture System

We use the Vicon system, with 10 Vero v2.2 cameras strategically positioned in our capture area of 6 x 7 x 3 cubic meters. These cameras emit infrared beams that are reflected by optical markers applied to the actors’ suits. The Shogun Live software triangulates this data in real time, allowing for precise captures across all three axes (X, Y, Z).

ADVANTAGES

Thanks to Vicon’s precision, we can simulate flights, acrobatics, and complex interactions. Physical props help actors orient themselves in space, resulting in more natural and realistic performances. This reduces rework and delivers results that are highly faithful to the intended vision.

SUITS & OPTICAL MARKERS

Our capture suits are made of flexible fabric with comfortable markers that follow the actors’ anatomy. Before each session, we individually calibrate the markers to ensure maximum efficiency and freedom of movement.

Unreal Engine Integration

Unreal Engine is an essential part of our pipeline.

It allows us to visualize in real time the animation applied to characters in real or blocked environments, enabling precise direction and alignment between acting and storytelling.

Facial Mocap

Unreal + iPhone (MetaHuman Animator): Captures facial expressions via video with cloud-based rendering.

Frequently Asked Questions

Motion Capture

  • Raw animation files

    Vicon Files: Vicon files are the raw capture, using the Vicon base skeleton. They serve as a source for retargeting the desired character's skeleton.

     

    Delivery format: .FBX

  • One of our unique features is that we allow you to preview how the animation will look directly on the desired character. If the character is available in advance, retargeting is performed and the animation is recorded directly on the requested rig. This animation is also raw, but it's ready to be applied to the character.

     

    Delivery format: .FBX

  • If the rig with controllers is shipped with the character, it's possible to perform a rough retargeting directly on the controllers. This prepares the file for animation polishing.

     

    Delivery format: .MA

  • We also offer animation polishing services, working on the rig with controllers provided by the client. Our animators fine-tune every detail to make the animation as ready as possible for application to the final project.

     

    Delivery format: .MA, .FBX or both.

  • Raw or polished .FBX files can be imported into Maya, Blender, Unreal, Unity, among others.
