Maleime
A Memory of the Forest
Maleime is an original short film created by Greydot Lab, which blends Brazilian mythology, cutting-edge technology and cinematic narrative into a unique visual experience, reinterpreting the legend of Caipora .
At Greydot Lab , we transform ideas into images that move, inspire, and last. We combine storytelling, art, and technology in a process that goes from conception to final delivery—a complete digital creation workflow that translates vision into experience.
Maleime began as a Brazilian fable, but it also became an example of how we work: with creative freedom, technical mastery, and a constant search for meaning. Every captured movement, every texture, every light is the result of a methodology that combines artistic sensitivity and technological precision.
Our pipeline integrates motion capture (Vicon), virtual production (Unreal Engine) and CGI, operating in an agile, scalable and fully collaborative way.
This allows us to develop original projects and also serve brands, production companies and studios seeking new ways to tell stories that blend the real and the imagined, the human and the mythical.
From myth to screen: creativity,
technology and end-to-end delivery

Maleime
A Brazilian fable
Under the moonlight, a miner, a logger, and a hunter enter the Amazon rainforest. The guide, overcome with remorse, plays the drum in search of forgiveness. His prayers invoke Caipora , guardian of the forest and memory of the earth's pain, whose dance alters the fate of those who touch the forest with destruction.
There is no crime without a victim. Caipora is a fundamental law and answers the question of "how long will nature endure in silence?"
Why tell this story?
Because Brazil needs to recognize itself again, and the forest still has things to say. Maleime is a reminder that our myths are not in the past; they continue to watch us.
Caipora is a reflection of the land that resists, the nature that feels, and the human being who carries guilt. Telling this story embodies our spirituality and shows that the fantastic is also Brazilian.

Caipora as a symbol
We chose Caipora because it proves that the forest has its own laws. It's nature's instinct for balance, which reacts when human imbalance becomes an infection.
Their dance is not one of fury, but of communion: each gesture is the pulse of the forest trying to heal itself.
Caipora 's violence is sacred, an act of restoration, not revenge.
She is the embodiment of debt and memory: she feeds on the pain of animals, fallen trees, and wounded rivers. She is the living reminder that the forest feels and responds.
From body to digital
Each Caipora gesture was created from dance, with choreography designed for the volume of motion capture.
From the stage to the Unreal viewport, and then to the CGI finish, the pipeline allowed us to visualize and adjust every detail, ensuring the creature responded to the light, movement, and rhythm of the narrative.

Creation and Narrative
The Caipora was born from the blend of indigenous mysticism and the aesthetics of the animal. Its appearance combines references to the coral snake and the harpy eagle: colors, textures, and shapes that distance it from the human and bring it closer to the mythical. It's a creature that seduces and commands respect. It's beauty and danger in one.
